This year’s Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is first expected to have an under screen fingerprint scanner, but Samsung used the same placement of S8 and S8 Plus. Already of the Galaxy S9 rumours suggests an under screen fingerprint scanner for faster unlocking. Now, the KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo says, the next generation Note series mobile (Galaxy Note 9) may have an under screen fingerprint scanner. This technology has been rumoured when the Galaxy S8 manufacturing started but we are far away from using that technology.
Business Insider also says, Galaxy Note 9 may have a fingerprint scanner under the display. Three part supplier companies have already sent samples to Samsung – Synaptics, BeyondEyes and Samsung LSI. The South Korean smartphone giant is also getting parts from the two Korean companies as well, these companies are expected to be considered more favourably as they are said to be more compatible with the self-illuminating OLED display.
The iPhone X is highly rumored of having a underscreened fingerprint display but Apple introduced a new technology called FaceID.
Kuo – Ming also believes that Samsung is using this technology as a transition to the advanced facial recognition technology (Apple’s FaceID), of course the present generation Note series mobiles has the iris scanner to unlock the device with your retina.
